On 11 July 2012, the Moldavian Parliament approved, after extensive debates and consultations with all the stakeholders, the draft of the new competition law of Moldova, and the law has been enacted by the President of Moldova and it was published in the Official Gazette and came into force on 14 September 2012 – Law 183/2012 (hereinafter referred to as the “Moldavian Competition Law” or”MCL”). The Moldavian Competition Law is inspired and mirrors the relevant provisions from the EU legislation (articles 101-106 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union), as Moldova is on track for an association agreement with the European Union. Moldova benefited, in the drafting of this law and of its first state aid law of the technical assistance provided by the competition

agencies from Romania, Austria and Latvia.
